1. NUVU Baby Full Body Pregnancy Pillow
This product from NUVU is designed to provide the best level of total body support. In addition to that, it has a number of useful features, so could this be the perfect pillow for you?
Review
This pillow has been specially designed to bring a mixture of comfort and support. The support element is provided by its size and by its U shape. It can almost envelop you in its soft embrace as you lie back in bed, the U shape providing all-over support for the entire body.
A super soft cotton cover that goes over a very soft polyester filler provides the comfort element. That is one area that the pillow is slightly disappointing, as polyester, while a lovely soft material, is simply not going to provide quite the same level of support as a higher quality material such as memory foam.
It’s comfortable, it’s nice and warm and it should provide enough comfort to let many Moms get a good night sleep. If however you are looking for a product with a little bit more support, it could be an idea to carry on down this list.
PROS
- Supportive shape
- Multipurpose
- Comfortable and soft
CONS
- Cheap polyester filler
- Not as supportive as other products
2. Dream Premium U Shape Pregnancy Pillow
This pillow from Dream is advertised as a premium product, and it certainly has a premium price tag. But does it have the features and high-quality design and construction to warrant that big price tag?
Review
There are a number of excellent features on this pillow that will go a long way to helping you get a great night’s sleep. The superb U-shaped design provides excellent support exactly where you need it, including tapered inner contours that are designed to follow the natural shape of your body.
The construction is of 100% cotton, which means that the product is both very soft to the touch but also highly breathable, helping keep you cool as you sleep. The product also includes a cotton cover, again 100% cotton, which is easy to remove to make it easy to keep this product clean.
It is also a multipurpose item, providing enough support that it can prop you up in a comfortable position for a range of tasks and activities such as nursing, breastfeeding or relaxing in front of the TV. That’s an extra, post-pregnancy lifespan to the pillow which, given the high price, is frankly very welcome.
It’s worth noting as well that is a very big product, being around 55 by 31 inches and weighting close to 7 pounds. That’s just something to bear in mind if you have a smaller bed, or share it with someone else – there may not quite be enough room for them and this pillow.
PROS
- Designed for comfort
- 100% cotton
- Removable cover
CONS
- Expensive
- Very large
3. Hiccapop Wedge Pregnancy Pillow
An extremely specialized design means that this pillow is primarily suited for the one task – providing support to your belly. Does it do a good enough job though to warrant investment in a product with a narrow range of features?
Review
Clearly significantly different from the other pillows we have looked at on the list so far, this is a very specialized design from Hiccapop. It is not a full body style pillow; rather it is designed to provide support to your stomach as you sleep.
If you really need support in that area then, this could very well be the pillow for you. In addition however, the makers state that by supporting the stomach, the product can then help to reduce swelling in the hands legs and feet. It can also be placed in the lumbar region of your back to provide support there if you prefer sleeping on your back. That’s a level of versatility that you may not expect with a product design of this nature.
Another extremely useful feature is that you can select the level of support you want. One side of the pillow is firmer than the other, so you simply flip it over to the desired side. That feature, in addition to the extremely soft plush velboa cover highlights a product that has very much been designed with mom’s comfort as the No. 1 priority.
It’s also a pretty small and compact pillow, making it far more suitable to use as a travel pillow than one of the giant full body versions on this list.
All in all then this really is a superbly well designed and well thought out product that has clearly been designed to do everything it can to help provide a good night sleep. All of that and the fact the price is pretty low too.
PROS
- 2-sided design – select level of support
- Excellent support for your stomach
- Extremely soft and comfortable
CONS
- Very specialized
4. Jill & Joey Pregnancy Wedge Pillow
Another specialist, wedge-shaped pillow, this time from the design team at Jill & Joey. It shares a number of features in common with the other wedge pillow above, so if this is the type of pillow you’re looking for, why should you go for this model?
Review
There are a lot of things to like about this little pillow. For one thing, it contains memory foam filler, which is a material that is always going to provide excellent levels of support. Like the product above, that support has a level of customization too, with the pillow boasting different levels of firmness on each side.
It also has a lovely soft cover that feels great to the touch. It is not of quite the high standard as the material cover on the product above, however it has a very nice feature in that the zipper is tucked away on the side of the product so it won’t dig you in the belly as you sleep – that’s a really nice design detail.
The fact it is zippered also means it is easy to take off and clean. Overall then, this is a very nicely designed and built pillow, with a number of thoughtful features and good materials where it counts.
As an added bonus, it’s also slightly cheaper than the other wedge shaped pillow above.
PROS
- Memory foam filler
- Clever zipper placement
- Low price
CONS
- Very specialized product
5. Zen Bamboo Full Body Pregnancy Pillow
Our final pillow on the list and we are back to the full-body design. This product from Zen Bamboo incorporates a range of useful features as well as really unique materials in the construction. Whilst it’s not the most expensive on the list, it not far off – does it justify its premium price tag?
Review
It’s all about the bamboo in this pillow, which is admittedly a slightly strange thing to say. The truth is that the pillow shares a number of design points with the other full body pillows on this list.
It is U shaped to provide support exactly where you need it. It is designed to mould itself to the natural contours of your body to provide a supreme level of comfort. The filling is nice and firm, however the manufacturers haven’t stated what it is actually made from, though we assume its polyester.
The outer cover on the other hand we know is made of a bamboo blend, and is extremely soft to the touch. It is also zippered for easy removal so washing is very simple.
This is a well designed – if very large – product, however it’s just a shame the maker wasn’t able to list the filling material.
PROS
- Extremely soft cover
- Very supportive
CONS
- Huge product, very heavy
- What is the filler material?
Conclusion
The stand-out full-body pillow is the Dream Premium U Shape Pregnancy Pillow, which manages to combine a lot of very useful features into a well made, thoughtful design.
As far as a wedge shaped product, both of the pillows on this list of that design are actually really good, so it was a tough call! Simply because it’s a little bit cheaper overall, we’re going to go with the Jill & Joey Pregnancy Wedge Pillow.
